  • Each fat reduction cycle takes 30-90 minutes and is well tolerated

  • Unlike surgery and liposuction, CoolSculpting has no downtime

FAQ

What Body Fat Areas Can Be Treated with CoolSculpting?

Coolsculpting is effective for treating subcutaneous fat tissue that can be physically pinched and pulled away from the body. Treatment areas that CoolSculpting has been proven to be effective on include the abdomen, flanks, arms, inner and outer thighs, knees submental area (chin), bra fat and back.

How Does CoolSculpting Work?

CoolSculpting freezes the fat cells that make up our adipose tissue. These cells are more sensitive to cooler temperatures than the surrounding muscle and skin, allowing the destruction of fat cells while protecting the surrounding tissues. CoolSculpting uses a precise and measured applicator coupled with a vacuum to draw excess fat into a tailored device.

How is CoolSculpting Performed?

A clinical examination and discussion with documented photographs are needed prior to treatment. This provides realistic expectations and outcomes.

Your CoolSculpting specialist will position a special applicator with an inbuilt suction device on the treated area. The applicator will gently draw the fat tissue into the cooling applicator. Cooling will then be applied for between 30-90 minutes, the applicator is removed and the treated tissue is massaged for 2 minutes to encourage further fat destruction.

Is This Procedure Safe?

CoolSculpting is both FDA and TGA approved by US and Australian Health standards for fat reduction treatments.

CoolSculpting has a safety record spanning nearly 5 years.

Is CoolSculpting Painful?

Unlike liposuction, CoolSculpting is described as a comfortable treatment by the majority of patients. Most discomfort is felt during the initial few minutes at which time you will feel sensations of pulling, pinching and intense cold. This discomfort typically lasts for a very short duration as the area becomes numb for the remainder of the treatment time.

What Happens to My Fat Cells After A CoolSculpting Treatment?

The freezing process of CoolSculpting selectively destroys fat cells through the natural process of apoptosis (cell death) and kickstarts your body’s immune system into digesting the treated fat cells in the weeks and months following the procedure. Lipids from the dead fat cells are then cleared by your lymphatic system

How Long Does Each Treatment Take?

A single treatment cycle of CoolSculpting takes between 30-90 minutes per site. During an initial consultation, your CoolSculpting specialist will develop a treatment plan with you to allow for the necessary time to treat all sites at a single visit. Total CoolSculpting time depends on the number of sites treated.

Do I Need to Follow A Special Diet or Exercise Program Before or After the Treatment?

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle ensures the best results after CoolSculpting treatment.

Is There Any Downtime With CoolSculpting?

There is no downtime following CoolSculpting and most patients are able to return to their normal routine immediately after treatment. Mild discomfort may be experienced by some patients after treatment including mild redness, swelling bruising and aching; however, this is temporary and resolves within hours or days. Most patients return to their usual activities the day after their CoolSculpting procedure.

What Are the Common After Effects Following CoolSculpting?

As Coolsculpting does not involve invasive surgery or excisions, side effects are rare and short lived. Most patients will experience some redness, tingling and aching in the treated area for a few days post treatment.

Is CoolSculpting Recommended as a Cellulite Treatment?

The effects of CoolSculpting on cellulite is as yet unknown and still undergoing further studies and is not prescribed for the treatment of cellulite. Some patients who exhibit cellulite may still undergo CoolSculpting treatments, though the improvement of cellulite is not guaranteed.

How Do I Know If I'm a Candidate for CoolSculpting Treatments?

CoolSculpting is recommended for patients with stubborn pockets of subcutaneous fat that have not reduced with diet and exercise.

When Will I See Results?

You may start to see changes as early as 4 weeks after your first CoolSculpting treatment; however, the most dramatic results will occur after 2-3 months. Your body will still be flushing away fat cells for up to six months after an initial treatment.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

One treatment will demonstrate a measurable and visual difference in the majority of patients. Cutis Clinic is very selective as regards suitable candidates, ensuring that the majority of patients achieve great results.

A follow-up visit with your CoolSculpting specialist at 3 months will assess the degree of improvement. At this stage, we can evaluate whether an additional procedure could achieve higher degree of fat reduction.

What Results Can I Expect After A CoolSculpting Session?

The majority of patients achieve noticeable and measurable fat reduction in the treated areas. The degree of improvement will vary from person to person. Our CoolSculpting specialists will be able to give you an idea of realistic expectations as well as number of treatments required during your initial consultation.

How Does CoolSculpting Compare With Surgical Procedures like Liposuction?

Unlike liposuction, CoolSculpting is a non-invasive, non-surgical procedure and has minimal risks of adverse effects and minimal downtime.

CoolSculpting is designed to remove stubborn areas of fat from well-motivated individuals looking for an effective, safe and painless procedure which is not associated with significant cost or downtime.

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that can remove large volumes of fat in one procedure; however, this is an expensive procedure with significant downtime and a number of risks. CoolSculptors at Cutis Clinic evaluate and treat suitable candidates for CoolSculpting.
